Foundation Walls & Piers

Updated: Apr 27

It is easy to walk around the house and simply check the exterior of the foundation and structural supports, but much of the structural systems are hidden, buried underground, or simply not visible.

Foundation walls and piers in residential buildings are usually made of masonry and should be inspected for cracking, deterioration, moisture intrusion, and structural adequacy.

Annual inspections are recommended as part of a regular home maintenance plan. As the local certified home inspector, your job is to help your neighbors check the structural integrity of their homes, including the foundation walls, concrete and wooden posts, columns, and piers.
